2Return and James Hardie Europe GmbH enter into an agreement

2Return BV, specialist in logistics packaging management, and fibre cement building materials producer James Hardie Europe GmbH have entered into an agreement with the aim having pallets optimally circulating between plants and their customers in Germany.

James Hardie, selling – amongst others - under the Fermacell brand name, transports their products on wooden pallets, both euro pallets and their various specific sized pallets. After shipment to the various construction sites and building companies 2Return coordinates pick-up of the pallets for reuse. The pallets are transported to one of the four 2Return depots, where they are sorted and - if necessary - repaired. Upon request the pallets are delivered to the James Hardie factories, where they are used again. The participating customers of James Hardie generate their pick-up request using the online web portal, from that moment on 2Return coordinates execution of all activities. Apart from pick-up requests the web portal provides views of inventory and enables following the status of the various activities, from the moment the pick up request was initiated by the end user up to returning them to the factories. The administration of 2Return and James Hardie are connected through EDI.

Recovering pallets for reuse contributes positively to the environment and increases long-term availability of pallets at controlled costs. 2Returns extensive network of transporters and depots guarantees an efficient way of collecting, processing and recycling the pallets.

2Return already provided their services to Fermacell in Benelux and Switzerland. Adding German customers was a logical next step to integrate all palletflows into one system.
